For sale is a top example of epitactic quartz with tourmaline, on feldspar, from Namibia. Epitactic growth is a type of crystal growth or material deposition in which new crystalline layers are formed with one or more well-defined orientations with respect to the crystalline seed layer. The crystalline layer seed in this case is the on the angle of the cleavage plains in the original feldspar. Great specimen, with an added bonus of the fine jet black tourmaline crystals over the specimen.
