a IDDINGSITE - ULTRA RARE

For sale is an uncommon mineral iddingsite, from Mt Shadwell, Vic. Iddingsite is a breakdown mineral of olivine, and eventually will proceed to goethite. This stunning specimen (the largest and most attractive I have every come across) features multi color irridescence all over its back and front surfaces. Not easy to capture in pictures. This old (from early 1970s )specimen came from the Brian Hutchinson collection, and I must say it took me years to identify correctly, it was only done with the help of the Australian Museum.

a IRIDESCENT SIDERITE - RAINBOW COLOR

a IRIDESCENT SIDERITE - RAINBOW COLOR

Details:

For sale is a small but stunning rainbow iridescent siderite from Blackhead quarry, Ballina, NSW. This is one specimen that really does like sunlight, the iridescence is good in artificial light , but is actually stunning in sunlight. I know the second pic is terrible but I tried to show the rainbow iridescence on a different part of the specimen. I have no idea what the pale green mineral on the right hand side is, but it is always good to assume any unknown is quartz! Absolute perfection.

a LARGE RHODONITE WITH GALENA

Details:

For sale is a largish crystal of rhodonite with galena, from Broken Hill, NSW. An undamaged crystal with excellent luster and uncommonly sharp face junctions, while not gemmy the crystal is translucent, not bad for a crystal this size. As can be seen from the second pic the top termination is a stepped, again quite typical for Broken Hill rhodonite's. the galena which covers an area at the top and a small amount of the side faces, is not quite as bright as the pics indicate. Today crystals of this size and presentation, are just not seen or are priced at stratospheric levels. Ex Berni Williams collection, (Broken Hill miner)
